Artist Statement

In the intersection of shadow and light, there exists a liminal space where the familiar becomes unrecognizable. My work investigates these moments of architectural isolation—capturing the quiet tension between man-made permanence and the fleeting transit of light.

By isolating textures and geometric intersections, I deconstruct the world into a visual language of minimalism. This reduction is not an absence, but an invitation to witness the profound weight of negative space and the rhythmic beauty of the structural ‘void’.

Biography

Paolo Farinella is a London-based fine art photographer whose work focuses on the deconstruction of the urban landscape. Originally from Italy, his photographic journey is rooted in a disciplined observation of the built environment, seeking out the moments where architectural functionality gives way to pure abstraction.

Working primarily in color, Paolo utilizes a minimalist visual language to isolate the interplay between shadow, light, and geometry. His practice is a continuous inquiry into “liminality”, exploring the silent, often overlooked transitions within metropolitan spaces. By reducing the city to its most fundamental forms, he creates compositions that emphasize rhythm, scale, and the profound stillness of the structural void.

His work is held in private collections in the United Kingdom and Europe.
